A Wiggling Tooth

“Mum, one of my teeth is wiggling!”

“Serious? Let me take a look.”

I looked closely at several front bottom teeth of Jamie’s,

like a police searching for clues to identify potential suspects.

Then I put my index finger on them and gave them a gentle wiggle.

The loose tooth was found.

“Ah!” I exclaimed in astonishment, scaring Jamie a bit.

“Mum, relax! Some of my classmates are losing their baby teeth, too.”

Jamie smiled, trying to comfort me as if I were the one who has a loose tooth.

I wondered if she could still smile like this when she’s losing more baby teeth.

“The loose tooth means you are growing up. You are a big girl now.”

“Just leave it alone and let it fall out on its own.”

“DO NOT wiggle it or yank it out!”

Jamie nodded and walked away kind of excitedly.

When it comes to motherhood, I am still too young and inexperienced.

However, watching my own kids grow and share these unforgettable moments

with them make this job so much rewarding.
