Bonchaz Bakery Café owes much of its popularity to its namesake;

a deliciously decadent Mexican-French pastry,

with flavours including butter sea salt, banana walnut,

 or chocolate truffle; freshly baked before your eyes

 to crispy golden perfection.

The boutique café also boasts a phenomenal French press coffee,

 appetizing and homemade affordable eats.

Bonchaz Bake

It's one of those cafes that grows on you.

From the outside it doesn't look like much,

 you enter the cafe and its haphazard interior fails to impress.

But once you sit to enjoy your coffee and bun,

the place starts to make sense. It's a bakery cafe -

 maybe they didn't sink money into decor but everything works and it's clean.

 My soup was plenty and good.

Smoked Alaskan Salmon Sandwich (~$8).

The bun is soft and not soggy, the smoked salmon was delcious

(I wish there were more), and the tomatoes and lettuce were fresh and crisp.

 me within a couple of minutes.
