Bada Bing, the new halal Philly cheese steak food truck that parks at Robson and Thurlow (or Bute). On TV shows such as Law and Order, Philly cheese steaks routinely and tantalizingly slouch in the hands of salt-of-the-earth cops and robbers, who eat them standing on the sidewalk. The sandwiches always look sumptuous—meaty, oniony messes oozing sauce.

Using organic Halal meat, Bada Bing serves up a Philly Cheesesteak with a twist. They start with your basic Cheesesteak with shaved beef and cheese, and then add things to your liking. I added the garlic sauce, ketchup, and mustard. I added them in parts of my sandwich so that I can taste the difference between the three sauces when added to it. The best mix, for me, was the garlic sauce and the ketchup. The flavours just come together also. But be prepared for the onslaught of the garlic sauce. It has a bit of kick! Certainly not the one to add if you were to meet someone on a date as I’m sure you will smell of garlic for quite some time. But, oh, if you can, go for it! It has a very intense flavour!

I didn’t add any more condiments to my sandwich; they had a few more like honey mustard, relish, hot peppers and so on by the side of the food truck. Again, I was really going for purity here in order to judge the food fairly.

I would probably go back to Bada Bing if I were near the area, but with Roaming Dragon and Japadog in the next few blocks; I’d probably go further on Burrard. But if it were the garlic sauce I am craving and I have a pack of gum or toothbrush with me, I’d definitely visit Bada Bing again.
