Seconds after the premiere of Lady Gaga's new single "Born This Way", people found out that they can sing Madonna's "Express Yourself" over the melody of "Born This Way". Madonna has not yet talked about the similarities, but took action by uploading a new video on her YouTube channel, which happened to be her performance of "Express Yourself" at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1989.
So last night Gaga won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. Near the end of her acceptance speech, she surprised the world by thanking Whitney Houston. In particular, Gaga said how she imagined Whitney Houston singing "Born This Way" when she wrote the song, which made Whitney become the inspiration.
Fasten your seatbelt. It is officially on.
Seems like the curtain temporarily falls. Lady Gaga addresses the "Born This Way" controversy on Jay Leno. “There is really no one that is a more adoring or loving Madonna fan than me. I am the hugest fan personally and professionally,” she says. “The good news is that I got an e-mail from her people and her, sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single, and if the queen says it shall be, then it shall be.”
By the way, "Born This Way" will debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week and become the 1,000th No. 1 song in history.
