The murderer sneaked up behind the unsuspecting boy
with an axe in one hand. His eyes, bloodshot
and vicious, resembling a madman’s. Then, with a smile, he leaped and the axe
plunged into the boy’s back. The child struggled and screamed, his body flying across
the room. The murderer grinned cynically as the boy flailed around. As the murderer
awaited the boy’s death, he stared blankly into the boy’s eyes..
Then, the murderer started
to chop him up, limb by limb.
I shivered and reached for the air conditioner and
TV remote at the same time. Switching the TV off, I glanced at the clock — the hands pointed to the big one. Next
to me, Leah was already fast asleep. We had worked on our science project
longer expected and had already dozed off an hour into the movie.
Outside, a shroud of silence enveloped the
entire building. Drip, drip, drip — the sounds of the leaking water
dispenser could be heard. Most of my classmates had gone back to spend the summer
with their parents, which explained the unusual silence.
I shook Leah’s shoulders and as she awoke, she
gave me an apologetic look as I started for my own room, down the hallway.
Right outside my room, I stopped by the water
dispenser to have a drink, and that’s when I noticedthe puddles of water. I
shook my head and walked into my room, landing on my bed face first.
I couldn’t sleep as insomnia trailed behind my
thoughts of the day. I was about to switch on the night-light when I stopped. In
the silence, I heard the light footsteps of someone walking down the hallway.
I blinked out the sleep in my eyes. It was
summer and everybody on our floor left for the summer holidays except for Leah — and I knew Leah was sound asleep in her
room.
Wild possibilities started to race around my head.
The footsteps continued. I counted, patiently awaiting them to stop. Whoever it
was had already paced up and down the hallway 12 times.
Drip, drip,
drip, the sound of water (or was it water?) dripping deafened everything else,
even the loud drum that was beating in my heart.
Soft thumps could be heard as those dreaded
feet continued to pace down the hallway. Meanwhile, my heart was thinking, hoping.
Ms. Ling the cafeteria lady? No, she lived
downtown and leaves after 8. Mr. Thompson, the guard? He should be standing at the
front gates.
My heart, thunderous and loud, sounded in my
ears… the footsteps were walking in my direction now!
And then, the footsteps stopped right in front of
my door.
By now, my heart was thumping so hard that I thought
for sure that it was going to beat itself out.
Drip, drip,
drip, the dreaded droplets trickled into my ears.
The footsteps started up again, I couldn’t take
it anymore. I decided to make a run for it. A run for Leah’s room. I decided to
wait until the footsteps halted before Bolting to Leah’s room.
Silence came, like a sudden hefting of a knife.
I drew in a gasp and counted to three. At the
end of three second, I was already soaring out of my covers and heading towards
the door.
I threw it open and ran straight down the
hallway to Leah’s room. I raised my hands to pound my fists on the door when I
abruptly stopped.
The door was opened.
I heard dripping everywhere. Every corner, every
wall, every single piece of particle of matter was screaming out that horrifying
dripping sound.
I frantically scanned the room and stopped dead
in my tracks.
There, in front of me, was Leah’s body, on the
floor, chopped into odd shapes and chunks.
My screams echoed in my head, reverberating through
my thoughts. Thoughts of the murderer ran though my mind. And then, in midst of
all this mess of thoughts, a sudden thought silenced all of them. I forgot to close
the door.
My body turned instinctively to escape from here,
when I felt a hand on my shoulder. Looking sideways, all I saw was five long, red
nails.
Drip, drip,
drip. The sound reached my ears
like heavy metal music blaring through speakers.
The unsheathing of a knife cut through the air and
suddenly and a foreign sharp object entered my back. I gasped in pain and fell
to the ground.
I managed to turn my head around. The figure I saw
had empty eye sockets, pale pink, chapped lips and a cold, pale white body.
My body shook with such thundering force. I was
so scared that when I shrilled, no sound exited my mouth. It was as if she took
my breath away,
Then the whole world blacked out.
Drip, drip,
drip went the water
Drip,
drip, drip went my blood, creating a lake of blood underneath me.
I feel so bad
after like, reading everyone else's.
anyways,
we had chinese first though
the movie, very interesting,
though I doubt a foot massage is THAT good.
or is it the event that comes AFTER that make them want him to come into their rooms.
