Just back from my night duty. Such a bad night. Already can’t sleep well for few days, hope to have a peaceful night but things always opposite to your thought. The old man admitted for 2 days with DM, HT and ?MI. Very high Trop. I but with stable vital sign, nothing being done during admission.
Before midnight, still found him with a good sleep and good BP/P. Half hour later, he was being reported by his private carer of pale looking just after self void at bedside and sit out. BP/P dropped like jumping down a mountain. Cardiac arrest within 5 minutes in between I informed his doctor and daughter. Then I had my first CPR for patient. FIRST CPR?!! YES! Its my first CPR since I am a student nurse. I am so lucky.
"E" doctor and nurse from other ward also called to help. CPR done for about 30 minutes with 5 doses of Adrenaline given without response. The old man was certified. Continue for my documentation, calm down relative and gave general information to them about arrangement of the old man tomorrow during office hour. The time I can settled down is already 4:30am. Tired and extremely headache. Still need to round ward and document for other patients.
To be honest, I was quite scared when the man found arrest. But I think I still carry out my nursing skills in an appropriate way.
Ohh~~~ Growth again!
Hope I can have a well sleep now without thinking.
