Graig Hinton was A jaguar restorer and racer, he was contracted to build 2 cars for the movie,at a cost of 75,000 A piece. What the studio needed was a car capable of doing 120 miles an hour for the chase seen,and Graig built them this car .This car was built around a jaguar mark 9 chassis with A MARK 5 BODY , the engine an 285 horse dual over head cam jaguar xke engine, with a 4 speed jag transmission with button over overdrive. Unlike the other Hollywood cars this car was meant to be driven fast for the chase scenes. Graig drove it from England to Tunisa for the movie. The other car built was just a show prop that couldn’t move out of it's own way, and was believed to be destroyed a few years after the movie, So this is the only and best surviving example,because the other one was a prop. This car can handle and stop on a dime due to the mark 9 chassis and over sized disc brakes jaguar uses.The car can go 0-60 in 6.8 sec,that’s flying for this car. The body is all steel modified jaguar. After the movie Graig kept this car and moved to Florida, he used this car to show at special events,like the Florida concourse D'elegance THIS WAS CAR WAS THE FEATURED GUEST #22 JULY 10 1982 AT BAL HARBOUR FL D'ELAGANCE , I HAVE THE GOLD PLAQUE THAT WAS PUT ON THE WINDOW AT THE SHOW,TO PROVE IT. Graig sold the car to a gentleman named Robert Fortner , a big wig at interstate batteries. In 1983 Robert he had some financial problems,and the sun bank of south Florida seized the car,and then the car was sold to a Mickey Sangiacomo,and then Mickey sold the car to a restaurant owner in Chicago, who was a private collector of automobiles, its was stashed away since 1985 and only viewed by a select few if you were lucky enough to see his collection, until he passed away , Then the family sold it to me.The car was sitting in the family's warehouse with 2 inches of dust on it, A real diamond in the rough. This car was almost lost to the world, but I found it just in time for the new movie. The Car is documented through south Florida jaguar club By ED Cirella, he is the one who appraised it for Graig the builder for insurance purposes in 1981.
