My student told me that she was admitted into dance class in junior high school. Of course, I was glad and proud of her, but I know there were some problems in that school. Why do I know the exact problems? Because I graduated from thIS school, too. I feel she really likes to dance and she has a great passion for it. When I saw her, I saw myself. I remember when I was a grade 6 student, I was looking forward to going to junior high school too, and I got admission to the same school. I loved dance because it was one thing which made me feel I was different from others. Even though, I had to take bus and spend a lot of time to get to school every day, I still could endure the long distance. Because there is nothing more exciting than dancing every day. However, when I became a student at that school, it was a totally different world from my brilliant imagination. I am not going to criticize anything, but the system of the school was so strange because only one dance teacher controlled everything and she owned a dance studio outside. If you did not learn dance in her studio, you were going to lose any chance to perform on stage. The worst thing is that I can not remember I learned any correct notions form the teacher. We needed to learn dance and brought dance implements from that studio. If you did not, you were going to be scolded by her. My student told me that dance class students cannot speak to common class students otherwise they will be led astray. Mmm~~ I think making more friends is not wrong, and students should have more experiences and have diverse friends which enrich their lives and thoughts.
Although, my junior high school is not a really good environment to study dance, there was one great thing that I have a lot of amazing and wonderful friends in my classroom and we still contact each other today. We all had crazy experiences in our junior high school time. We did many funny and interesting things during our juvenile period . Now, we celebrate our birth days and hang out once a week. We are truly understanding each other, even though each of us have different jobs and lives, but we are still so matched and I am the only one still working in dance in my sister group now.
Anyway, everyone has a right to choose the lives that they want. I gave her a book as a present and congratulated her. I hope my student will overcome her difficulties and enjoy her dancer life.
