Being an overseas missionary is my dream, it started from 2006, on my 3rd time mission trip at a mountain village in mainland China. There are many kids who have bright eyes, black face and messy hair. Though most of them wore dirty clothes, they still have the most beautiful smile. When you look at their face, you may not notice their feet are naked in the cold winter. Thinking about the same age kids in Taiwan, they have a lot of clothes, shoes, toys…., but most of them lack of smile. Why? Those things seem not satisfy kids, or they take it for granted?
Those lovely kids can’t understand what I say because they don’t speak mandarin, they have their own language. We can’t communicate by speaking, but we try another ways. It’s very funny to express your thoughts without speaking, but I succeed. If they find you truly love them, they’ll feedback you the same love.
Those kids are so cute, and they hunger for learning everything, they don’t have computers or internet, even desks or chairs were not found in the classroom. Can you imagine how to teach without those facilities? In Taiwan’s classroom, teachers have many different kinds of digital tools, they must spend much time learning how to use those equipments: smart board, projector, computer, video camera…, but think about this question: what’s the most important ability for a teacher? What’s your teaching skill? Can you teach well without those digital equipments? I think a real teacher can teach everywhere, his teaching ability should not be mesured depend on how can he use those facilities, but how can he transform the knowledge in head to his students.
I want to be an educational missionary, to serve people abroad. For me, it’s a tough task and big challenge, so I need more prayer to make my dream come true.
