Once upon a time, there was a child ready to be born.
從前,有一個小孩即將誕生.
One day, the child asked God” They tell me you are going to send me to the earth tomorrow. But how am I going to live, being so small & helpless?”
有一天,這個小孩就問上帝: ”他們告訴我你明天將送我到人間.但是我這麼弱小,又無助,將如何存活?”
God replied, “Among the many angels, I have chosen one for you, she’ll be waiting for you & will take care of you.”
上帝回答:”我從眾多天使中為你挑選了一位,她將會在那裡等候你,照顧你.”
“But” said the child, “Here in heaven, I don’t do anything else but sing & smile, that’s what I need to be happy.”
“可是”小孩說,”我在天堂除了歌唱與微笑,什麼都不必做,那樣我就會很快樂.”
God said, ”Your angel will sing for you everyday, & you’ll feel your angel’s love & be happy.”
上帝回答:”你的天使每天都會為你歌唱,而你將感受到她的愛,然後過得很快樂!”
“And” said the child,” How am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me, if I don’t know the language that men talk?”
“還有”小孩說,”如果我不懂得人類的語言,當他們對我說話時,我將如何了解他們的意思.”
“That’s easy.” God said, “Your angel will tell you the most beautiful & sweet words you’ll ever hear, & with much patience & care, your angel will teach you how to speak.”
“這很簡單.”上帝說,”你的天使將很有耐心,很細心地對你說你從未聽過的最美,最甜的話語,你的天使將教你如何言語.”
The child looked up at God saying, “And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?”
小孩抬起頭對上帝說:”如果我有話要對你說,我要怎麼辦?”
God smiled at the child saying, “Your angel will place your hands together & will teach you how to pray.”
上帝微笑地說:”你的天使將把你的雙手合起來,而後教你如何祈禱.”
The child said, “I’ve heard on earth there are bad men. Who will protect me?”
小孩又說:”聽說人間有很多壞人,誰將保護我?”
God put his arm around the child, saying, “Your angel will defend you, even if it means risky life!”
上帝將他的手環繞小孩說:”你的天使將保護你,即使那意味著一種冒險!”
The child looked sad, saying, “But I’ll always be sad, because I will not see you anymore.”
小孩顯得悶悶不樂,說:”可是我將常感到難過,因為我無法再見到你.”
God hugged the child, “Your angel will always talk to you about me, & will teach you the way to come back to me, even though I’ll always be next to you.”
上帝擁抱著小孩,說:”你的天使將經常對你提起我,而且教你如何回到我身邊,即使我也一直就在你左右.”
At that moment, there was much peace in heaven, but voices from earth could already be heard. The child in a hurry, asked softly, “Oh God, if I’m about to leave now, please tell me my angel’s name.”
這時,天堂何其寧靜,然而來自人間的嘈雜聲已可聽聞.匆忙中,小孩還是輕輕地詢問:"上帝,我即將離去,請告訴我那位天使的名字."
God replied, “Your angel's name is of no importance……, you’ll simply call her mommy!”
上帝回答:”那位天使的名字並不重要…….,你只要叫她 媽咪 就行!”
