這首空前絕後的超級、超超級、世界頂級、鑽石級金曲是本世紀最著名的流行音樂作品，它造就了一批Hotel California的超級fans。可能是這首單曲太有名了，風頭甚至蓋過了它的創造者"老鷹樂隊"。
老鷹樂隊是美國老牌的搖滾樂隊，主唱兼鼓手唐·亨利(Don He- nley)，主唱吉它兼鍵盤葛倫·佛萊(Genn Frey)，吉它手班尼·林登，貝司手倫第· 麥斯勒。1972年樂團在倫敦完成了第一張專輯， 作品充滿了典型的鄉村搖滾風格。代表作《 Take It Easy》在當年夏天橫掃整個美國。 拉著他們又推出了一張具有整體概念的唱片專輯《Desperado》。 1974年4 月當 《On The Border》 推出後，雄鷹更向前邁進了一步，進入了超級樂團行列並使他們在葛萊美獎中獲得兩項提名。 1976年班尼·林登離隊由喬·沃什接替。1977年倫第·麥斯納也決定離隊，由摩西· B·蘇特接任。 70年代中期“雄鷹”樂團一連串出擊都獲得了滿堂彩，《One Of These Night》獲得了5周冠軍，《New Kid In Town》入榜第 一週便升上了48名，還有大家都很熟悉的《 加州旅館》(Hotel California)，在1977 年獲得8 周冠軍，歌曲特殊之處在於唐·費 爾德與喬·沃什所的雙吉它效果。它可以說是雄鷹在最佳狀態，最佳組合之下完成的一 首曠世之作，它的銷量突破了1500萬張。
借用中國的一句古語"成也蕭何、敗也蕭何"，可能是《Hotel California》太成功了，以後，The Eagles再也沒有創作出超過《Hotel California》的作品。或許是聽眾們太苛刻了<-- 我覺得這段是重點 , 好句 成也蕭何、敗也蕭何 , 好無奈 好感慨 - - 不禁聯想到 功成不一定能身退 ~ 這樣也不對那樣也不對 相信自己就對了!
對於Hotel California的喜愛已使他們忽略了The Eagles其他的單曲。更有甚者，傳說The Eagles到日本舉行演唱會，演唱會第一支曲子就安排Hotel California，但演唱完了這首曲子之後,音樂會就走了近一半的人。(因為人們只是來聽《Hotel California》的) <- = = 我只能說那些人也太...了吧!一點期待聽到別的音樂的慾望都沒有喔?!! 那幹麻要去聽? 純粹顯示說他那麼那麼只愛一首歌喔? 無聊的自以為 = =
Others : The Eagles可以說是美國最偉大的搖滾樂團。 <--不至於 ~ 這句話有點過於主觀 - -
感到可惜 : 在走過了一系列輝煌成就之後，“雄鷹 ”開始走下坡路，其成員變動造成不穩定因素，核心人物唐·亨利與葛倫·佛萊意見不和，樂隊於1982年發行了最後一張集錦唱片後宣佈解散。

About「colitas」

其中的「colitas」是什麼意思？
說法有很多種，這裡的解釋算最有根據的，因為作者直接寫信問了老鷹樂團的經理 Irving Azoff──Colatis是西班牙文，指「花蕾」，老鷹樂團用這個字暗指大麻，以避免招來麻煩。
