asto nish ment

Astonish is like a synonym to amaze. It expresses when you see something that is of awe, of amazement.
Surprise, however, is when you are amazed at something you didn't expect.
Astonish example: "I was astonished at how beautiful the dancer was."

"I was surprised to find out he did drugs."
Astonished is more something you can't believe. Surprised is something you could've been expecting, but at the same time didn't.

She gasped in astonishment.

Adequate, enough, sufficient (adjs.)
We had adequate/enough/sufficient money for the journey.
Are there enough/sufficient bananas for everyone?
The pay was barely adequate to support a family.
His income is inadequate to pay for it.
We have enough chairs for everyone.
There were not enough seats for all the guests. The supply of seats was quite inadequate.
There was easily enough food for everyone.
There was a sufficient amount of food.
Ten thousand dollars will be sufficient for the trip.
Her income is not sufficient to support her family.
The food was insufficient for our needs.
He has adequate/enough/sufficient money for his son to study abroad.
1.enough
Have you had enough (to eat)?
He is rich enough.
That’s enough
He is not tall enough to play basketball in NBA.
Is the water cold enough yet?
1. enough is enough
Enough is enough, I don’t want to argue with you any more.
2. That’s enough
That’s enough, Mark.
3. have had enough
have had enough 跟 enough is enough 意思很像,都是有點受夠了、受不了了的意思。
例:
I’ve had enough – I’m going home.
2.su ffici ent
UK /səˈfɪʃ.ənt/ US /səˈfɪʃ.ənt/
We don’t have sufficient evidence to convict him.
Do you have sufficient time to do the job?
Have you had sufficient sleep?
3.adequate
I didn’t have adequate time to prepare.
Have we got adequate food for 30 guests?

UK /ɪɡˈzɔːs.tʃən/ US /ɪɡˈzɑː.tʃən/
B2
the state of being extremely tired
She felt ill with/from exhaustion.
1:tired
I'm a little tired.
I'm so tired.
I'm very tired.
I'm extremely tired.
I'm dead tired.
I'm tired of doing unchallenging tasks every day. It’s time to start looking for another job!
Taking care of three kids at the same time is extremely tiring.
2:exhausted
I don’t want to do anything this weekend. I’m exhausted!
Commuting from Hsinchu to Taipei every day is exhausting! Why don’t you just find a job in Hsinchu?
3:drained
I was completely drained after working continuously for 12 hours yesterday.
4:worn out
Everyone was worn out because of the international exhibition.
5:burned out
It’s not easy to be a working mom. You get burned out easily, especially when your kids are little.
6:fatigued
After getting a Covid-19 vaccine, it’s normal to feel fatigued and drowsy.
7:weary
I need to visit a SPA to relax my weary body. I’ve been working so hard for the entire month!
1. I am exhausted.
「I am exhausted.」和「I am tired.」
He arrived in an exhausted state after driving through the night.
2. I am worn out.
要表達某人很累很疲倦,你可以用:sb + be worn out;要表達某事讓你很累、耗盡你的精力,可以說:sth + wear(s) me out。

I've been working all night and I am totally worn out.
= Working all night really wears me out.
sb + be worn out I'm worn out!
3. I am wrecked.
Ambition wrecked his marriage.
4. I am knackered.
I'm absolutely knackered, so I'm not doing any bar-crawls tonight.
5. I am beat.
You've been working too hard. You look dead beat.
6. I am drained.
She felt drained at the end of a long workday.
= A long workday completely drained her.
7. I am pooped.
I'm pooped! I must get some sleep.
8. I am wiped out.
be wiped out 疲倦的
wipe out(車輛)失控
wipe out one's debts
wipe up 擦拭
wipe a off b 將 A 從 B 抹去
wipe the smile off sb's face
a wipe the floor with b A 輕鬆擊敗 B
wipe the slate clean 重新開始(slate:石板(n.))

exclusively
adverb
UK /ɪkˈskluː.sɪv.li/ US /ɪkˈskluː.sɪv.li/
C1
only
This offer is available exclusively to our established customers.
an exclusively female audience
"Only" is the most general term out of the three and you can usually use it in place of the other two in everyday conversation :)
"Solely" means that there is only one thing being referred to (and does not involve anyone or anything else), while "exclusively" only implies that you're referring to a limited number of things. So solely = just one, exclusively = limited few.
For example:
"I am solely to blame for this accident." (means that you and you alone were the cause of the accident)
"Our agency deals exclusively with luxury brands." (means that your agency will only work with companies who fall under the limited category of "luxury brands")
"He's solely in charge of the operation." (means that he has no one else with him taking charge of the operation -- it's only him.)
"This offer is available exclusively to our loyal customers." (means that the offer is available to everyone who falls under the limited category of "loyal customers")
You can substitute "only" most of the time without significant difference :)
(For example: "Only he is in charge of the operation." "This offer is available only for our loyal customers." "Our agency deals only with luxury brands." "Only I am to blame for this accident." all have basically the same meaning as the previous examples ^_^)
