Telling Time 論今說古談報時
A riddle that has been told over the centuries states that time has no beginning, no end, and nothing in the middle. Benjamin Franklin once said, "Time is money." And everyone knows that time flies when you are having fun, but drags on when you are not.

　　Scientists and philosophers1 have attempted to understand time since they started looking in the sky. Nowadays, time is measured in seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, and years. The calendar most widely used is the solar2 calendar, which is based on seasonal changes. The lunar3 calendar follows the cycle4 of the moon. It is used to settle on the dates of holidays and festivals in Asia, such as Chinese New Year and the Moon Festival.

　　有個流傳幾世紀的謎語說，時間是個沒頭沒尾，中間也什麼都沒有的東西。班哲明‧富蘭克林曾說：『時間就是金錢』。而大家都知道玩樂的時間過得特別快，反之則會覺得特別慢。

　　科學家及哲學家自從仰望天空開始，就一直試圖想了解時間。如今，時間是以秒、分、時、日、月、年來計算。使用最廣泛的就屬陽曆，它是根據四季變化而編成。陰曆則是依照月亮的圓缺而定。在亞洲，陰曆用來決定放假日以及民俗節慶的日期，中國新年及中秋節便是一例。
