One week ago , my friends invited me to go to” Boo at The Zoo“ , I didn’t know what Boo at the Zoo was.

Who thought about walking around at the zoo? I had been to the zoo about two months ago but it was boring as too many animals were sleeping . So I don’t like the zoo very much .

When I into the zoo I was so surprised, because many people wore costumes for Halloween. My feeling was scared as those people always shrieked at us! I saw many Jack-o’-lanterns on the table that was so cute .We don’t have Halloween in Taiwan ,I thought it was a good experience for me…..



(1)When did Halloween start?

It all began from France and British Isles. It was started by the Celtic people long ago....



(2)Why do people wear masks with costumes and some people take lit pumpkins and walk around the house?

Because some people believed that on this day was a ghost day . That day was from Ireland. People put the food in front of the house on a table, When Ghosts finished that food they couldn’t harm people and animals . People used to lit pumpkins ,wear masks and costumes , when Ghosts saw the lit pumpkin the ghosts knew who should go to heaven and hell

So we said that was “Trick or treat”



(3)Why do people want to carve pumpkins?

There are two reasons :

First if you dig an empty pumpkin , You shouldn’t see the Ghost.

Second if ghosts light up candle , people will follow to Ghost so someone dig empty of pumpkin and then will carve a scary face which means “ I am not stupid”.
Boo at the Zoo-You must go to the zoo in the evening, Many peoples
wear costumes for Halloween.

Shriek- As people feared something and scream .

Jack-o’-lantern- Pumpkin with holes cut in it , that it looks like a face.
